Murder Suspect Arrested in Shooting Death of Dolton, Illinois Man

FBI Chicago September 16, 2009
  • Special Agent Garrett Croon (312) 829-1199

JARELL Q. GRIFFIN has been captured. He was wanted by the Chicago Police for the September 20, 2008 shooting death of a 24-year old Dolton, Illinois man during an apparent robbery attempt on the city’s south side. A Federal warrant was issued for GRIFFIN charging him with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution, which made him the subject of a nationwide manhunt.

He was arrested in Oakland, California on August 25th at the home of a relative. An anonymous tipster who had seen information about GRIFFIN posted on America’s Most Wanted website, called the Chicago Office of the FBI with information which ultimately led to GRIFFIN’s arrest.

With the help of our counterparts in California, GRIFFIN was arrested without incident.

He has been returned to Chicago, where he was charged with murder. He is being held without bond.
