High Point Organization Wins FBI Award

John Strong, special agent in charge of the Charlotte Division of the FBI, has chosen High Point Community Against Violence (HPCAV) as the 2014 Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA) recipient for North Carolina. HPCAV Executive Director Jim Summey will accept the award on behalf of the organization.

HPCAV partners with the High Point Police Department’s Violent Crime Task Force to employ strategies of focused deterrence to reduce violent crimes in High Point.

Since 1990—through the Director’s Leadership Community Awards (DCLA)—the FBI has publicly recognized the achievements of individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond the call to service by making extraordinary contributions to their communities in the areas of terrorism, cyber, drug, gang, or violence prevention and education.

HPCAV will be recognized by FBI Charlotte employees on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the High Point Police Department located at 1009 Leonard Avenue in High Point, North Carolina. The award presentation begins at 1:00 p.m.

You can learn more about the organization’s outreach and crime prevention efforts by visiting www.hpcav.com.

Mr. Summey will receive the award from FBI Director James Comey in a national ceremony to be held at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. in early 2015.
