FBI Seeks the “No Bag Bandit”

FBI Charlotte February 03, 2012
  • Public Affairs Specialist Shelley Lynch (704) 672-6766

The Charlotte Division of the FBI is seeking assistance identifying a serial bank robber operating in the Raleigh area, believed to be responsible for at least three bank robberies since September 2011. In each crime the subject carried the stolen money in his hands instead of using a bag.

The “No Bag Bandit” is believed to be connected to robberies at:

  • SunTrust Bank – 6300 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, NC on September 23, 2011
  • SunTrust Bank – 1273 North West Maynard Road, Cary, NC on November 25, 2011
  • Wells Fargo – 1301 Fifth Avenue in Garner, NC on January 19, 2012.

He is described as a white male, about 40 years old, 6’2-6’4” tall, approximately 180 pounds, with a grey beard and protruding teeth. In surveillance photos, he appeared to have altered the color of his hair and beard before the robbery on January 19, 2012.

The FBI is investigating these crimes in partnership with the Raleigh Police Department, the Cary Police Department, and the Garner Police Department. If you have any information about the robber or robberies, call the Charlotte Division of the FBI at 704-672-6100, Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP, Cary Crime Stoppers at 919-226-2746, or the Garner Police Department at 919-772-8810.
