Bank Robber Receives 10-Year Sentence

RALEIGH—United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court on January 4, 2010, Senior United States District Judge Earl Britt sentenced DANNIE PARKER JR., 39, to 120 months’ imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release.
A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on May 7, 2009, charging PARKER with robbing the Fifth Third Bank in Garner, North Carolina. PARKER pled guilty to the charge on October 5, 2009.
On November 7, 2008, PARKER entered the Fifth Third Bank in Garner and handed the teller a note demanding money. After the robbery, PARKER was then seen fleeing behind local businesses. Based on a tip, investigators soon arrested PARKER at a halfway house in Raleigh where PARKER was serving a term of supervised release that was based on prior federal convictions for robbery and narcotics offenses.
Mr. Holding commented, “I am pleased to acknowledge the Court’s sentence in this case. Here the defendant, while serving a term of supervised release and following a term of federal prison, brazenly robbed a bank. The sentence imposed was well earned.”
Investigation of this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Garner Police Department, and the Raleigh Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Rudy E. Renfer represented the government.
