Lumberton Bank Robber Sentenced

RALEIGH—United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court on October 22, 2009, United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced SAYFRIED SINCLAIR, 33, of Lumberton, North Carolina, to 188 months’ imprisonment.
A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on December 18, 2008, charging armed bank robbery. At his arraignment on June 15, 2009, SINCLAIR pled guilty to the charge.
On October 3, 2008, after waiting in line at the First South Bank in Lumberton, North Carolina, SINCLAIR walked up to the teller, and pointing a semi-automatic handgun, demanded, “Give me all you have.” Complying with the demand, the teller gave SINCLAIR approximately $2,093 in cash along with bait money. SINCLAIR fled the bank leaving behind an envelope. Following information obtained from the contents of the envelope and from the surveillance video, law enforcement traced SINCLAIR to the robbery.
Mr. Holding commented, “We are pleased with the sentencing given to the defendant. Armed robbery is a heinous crime that reverberates throughout the community.”
Investigation of the case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lumberton Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney William Gilmore represented the government.
