Three Sentenced in Federal Court

GREENSBORO, NC—Three men were sentenced on February 12, 2009, in United States District Court before the Honorable Chief Judge James A. Beaty, Jr., for their involvement in a bank robbery in Greensboro in March 2008, announced Anna Mills Wagoner, United States Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina.
“The sentences given in these cases, ranging up to 125 months imprisonment, recognize the seriousness of armed bank robberies which senselessly place innocent persons in harm’s way.” said U.S. Attorney Wagoner. The Newbridge Bank at 4638 Hicone Road in Greensboro was robbed by two men with a firearm on March 7, 2008, while the third man waited in a car. After the robbery a car chase ensued with police until the defendant’s wrecked their car into a tree at the Bryan Park Golf Course.
Information regarding the plea and sentencing of the defendants is as follows:
1. AMHAL RASHAD BOSTIC, age 19, of Greensboro, NC; pleaded guilty 8/4/08 to armed bank robbery and using a firearm during a crime of violence; sentenced 2/12/09 to 117 months imprisonment, 5 years supervised release;
2. STEPHEN LEVON NEAL, age 19, of Summerfield; pleaded guilty 8/4/08 to armed bank robbery; sentenced 2/12/09 to 54 months imprisonment, 5 years supervised release;
3. BRANDON LEE BASS, age 18, of Greensboro, NC; pleaded guilty 8/4/08 to armed bank robbery and using a firearm during a crime of violence; sentenced 2/12/09 to 125 months imprisonment, 5 years supervised release;
United States Attorney Wagoner also stated that this investigation, indictment and convictions demonstrate the positive outcome of cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in Greensboro, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Greensboro Police Department.
