Former Dansville Man Sentenced on Drug Trafficking Charges

ROCHESTER, NY—U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Mark Salamone, 51, formerly of Dansville, New York, who was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana, was sentenced to 30 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brett A. Harvey, who handled the case, stated that the charges stemmed from a joint federal and state investigation, which revealed that, between June 12, 2008 and October 4, 2008, the defendant was responsible for obtaining approximately 29 grams of methamphetamine, 200 grams of cocaine, and 500 grams of marijuana from a drug supplier in Rochester and distributing those drugs to others in the Western District of New York.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation on the part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Christopher M. Piehota; the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Wilbert L. Plummer, Acting Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Division; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, under the direction of Frank Christiano; and the New York State Police, under the direction of Superintendent Joseph D’Amico.
