Amherst Man Sentenced for Cocaine Trafficking

BUFFALO, NY—U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Jeremy Hall, 34, of Amherst, New York, who was convicted of cocaine trafficking, was sentenced to 135 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael L. McCabe, who handled the case, Hall, between 2004 and 2009, distributed at least 50 kilograms of cocaine to customers in Northern Erie and Niagara Counties. On June 21, 2008, the defendant was apprehended at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport with $97,000 in United States currency. The investigation revealed that the money was intended to intended to be used, in part, as payment for an amount of cocaine that came from Las Vegas, Nevada.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation on the part of special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Christopher M. Piehota; the Niagara County Drug Task Force, under the direction of Sheriff James Votour; the Niagara Falls Police Department, under the direction of Chief John Chella; and the Amherst Police Department, under the direction of Chief John Askey.
