Depew Woman Pleads Guilty to Drug and Gun Charges

BUFFALO, NY—U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Beverly Baer, 51, of Depew, New York, pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny to conspiring to distribute in excess of 500 grams of cocaine and possession of multiple firearms. The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $2,000,000 fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony M. Bruce, who is handling the case, stated that during a court-authorized search of the defendant's residence on Broadway St., in Depew in February, 2011, federal and local law enforcement officers discovered and seized 44 grams of suspected cocaine, 13 firearms, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

The conviction is the culmination of an investigation on the part of special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge Richard W. Kollmar, and officers of the Depew Police Department under the direction of Chief Stan Carwile.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 27, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Skretny.
