Statement of U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr.

U.S. Attorney’s Office August 26, 2010
  • Western District of New York (716) 843-5700

"Whenever a tragedy such as the shootings outside the City Grill occur in our community, input from the public is vital in helping to resolve such a case. I want to extend my thanks to community leader Darnell Jackson for his efforts in helping to bring Ricardo McCray into police custody without incident. In addition, my thanks go out to Bishop Perry Davis and others in the community who assisted in McCray’s surrender.

"I also applaud the tireless work of the Buffalo Police Department and its investigators, who have worked 24 hours a day for nearly two weeks, as well as the FBI and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, to capture those responsible for this horrific crime.

"This outcome is a perfect example of the community partnering with police to help bring a tense situation to a peaceful end."

William J. Hochul, Jr.
