Monte Montalvo Sentenced to One Year in Prison

BUFFALO, NY—Monte Montalvo, 39, of Cheektowaga, New York, who was convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm while subject to an order of protection on September 28, 2009 was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of 12 months and one day by Honorable William M. Skretny, Chief Judge, United States District Court, U.S. Attorney Kathleen M. Mehltretter of the Western District of New York announced today.

U.S. Attorney Mehltretter stated that the defendant had been convicted of possessing a firearm while being subject to an order of protection granted in favor of his former spouse.

The conviction was the culmination of an investigation on the part of Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James Robertson, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosive under the direction of Acting Resident Agent in Charge Francis Christiano, and officers of the Buffalo Police Department under the direction of Commissioner Daniel Derenda.
