New Waterford, Ohio Police Department Identifies Child Predator

Daniel A. Haueter, Police Chief, New Waterford, Ohio Police Department, Joseph Alessi, Police Chief Gowanda, New York Police Department and Laurie J. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Buffalo Field Office announce the arrest of Mark Wayne Miller, a 40-year-old male, who resides in Gowanda, New York.

Miller was charged federally with violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 2423(b) interstate travel with intent to engage in sexual activity with a minor which carries a 10-year mandatory minimum prison sentence upon conviction. Miller will be arraigned before United States Magistrate Judge Hugh B. Scott today Tuesday March 24, at 3:30 p.m.

Miller is accused with traveling from Erie Pennsylvania to New Waterford Ohio with the intent to engage in sex with a 13-year-old female and her mother. Miller's illegal activities were uncovered by the New Waterford, Ohio Police Department who brought his activities to the attention of the FBI Buffalo Cyber Task Force. The FBI's Innocent Images national initiative targets online child predators.

This matter will be prosecuted under the direction of Kathleen M. Mehltretter, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of New York. The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
