"The FBI is providing support to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), New York State Police, the Erie County Police Department, Emergency Medical Service personnel, local fire departments, and the State of New York in response to last night's crash of Continental Express 3407 in Clarence Center, New York. The Buffalo Division of the FBI has deployed special agents and Evidence Response Team (ERT) personnel to the scene. ERT members are highly trained in search techniques and equipped with state-of-the-art forensic equipment to aid in the evidence collection process. The FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services Division and the FBI Laboratory are also sending personnel to assist in the evidence collection and identification process. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and are prepared to assist the NTSB, which is leading the federal investigation, in pursuing all leads to determine the cause of the crash."
