New Boston Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Offense

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE—Dana Moody, 57, of New Boston, was sentenced in United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire to 72 months in prison after pleading guilty to possession and distribution of child pornography, announced United States Attorney John P. Kacavas.

The investigation into Moody began in November 2011 when the FBI was notified by the New Haven, Connecticut Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that an undercover officer had intercepted images of child pornography being transmitted by a computer user located in New Boston, New Hampshire.

Upon receiving the information, the FBI conducted a further investigation and secured a search warrant for Moody’s residence in New Boston. Computer evidence seized from Moody’s home was examined and found to contain several thousand images depicting the sexual assault of young children.

This case was prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
