Providence Man Charged with Armed Bank Robbery

BOSTON—A Providence man was charged yesterday for armed bank robbery, and he made his initial appearance before Magistrate Judge Judith G. Dein today.
Lavell C. Livramento, 50, was charged with robbing the Blue Hills Bank in Dedham.
The complaint alleges that on November 29, 2012, Livramento walked into the Blue Hills Bank, brandished a knife, and demanded money from the tellers. He then fled the bank, taking with him more than $12,000. Eyewitness and images from the bank’s surveillance system showed that the suspect was missing the pinky and ring fingers on his left hand, a characteristic officers recognized from surveillance photos from other bank robberies in Taunton, Mansfield, and Swansea. After he was identified and arrested, Livramento confessed to the series of robberies. If convicted, Livramento faces up to 25 years in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Boston Field Division, made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric P. Christofferson of Ortiz’s Major Crimes Unit.
The details contained in the complaint are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
