North Attleboro Man Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

BOSTON—A North Attleboro man was charged today in federal court with possession of child pornography. The indictment alleges that on or about December 1, 2010, Michael E. Davis, 43, possessed visual depictions of minors engaged in sexual explicit conduct.
If convicted on these charges, Davis faces up to 10 years’ imprisonment to be followed by up to lifetime supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation-Boston Field Division made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael I. Yoon of Ortiz’s Major Crimes Unit.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In 2006, the Department of Justice created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. The details contained in the indictment are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law
