Former Stonehill College Student Charged with Making Threats Against the College

BOSTON—A Connecticut man was charged today in federal court with making threats against Stonehill College.
STERLYNN ROBBINS, 23, of North Branford, Conn., was arrested today and charged in a criminal complaint with the transmission of a threat to injure the person of another. The complaint alleges that on March 17 and 18, 2011, ROBBINS, a former student at Stonehill College, sent a series of text messages to a current student at Stonehill College, threatening to blow up Stonehill College and kill two staff members of the college.
If convicted, ROBBINS faces up to five years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz; Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division; Colonel Marian McGovern, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police; Stonehill Police Chief Peter Carnes; and Easton Police Chief Allen R. Krajcik made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David G. Tobin of Ortiz’s Major Crimes Unit
The details contained in the complaint are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
