FBI Violent Crimes Task Force Seeks Serial Bank Robber

FBI Boston May 20, 2011

The FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and the police departments in Reading, Everett, Lynnfield, Salem, and Melrose, Massachusetts are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a bank robber who is alleged to have robbed a bank in each of the five towns. The five robberies occurred from April 25, 2011, through May 19, 2011. The FBI is releasing bank surveillance photographs to generate tips from the public regarding the identity of the robber.

The FBI believes the same person may have robbed the following banks:

  • April 25, 2011: TD Bank North, 470 Main Street, Reading, MA
  • May 03, 2011: East Boston Savings Bank, 1755 Revere Beach Parkway, Everett, MA
  • May 09, 2011: Eastern Bank, 771 Salem Street, Lynnfield, MA
  • May 15, 2011: TD Bank North, 600 Loring Avenue, Salem, MA
  • May 19, 2011: Eastern Bank, 441 Main Street, Melrose, MA

During each of the robberies, the suspect gave a written note to the teller that demanded money and threatened the teller with harm should the teller not comply. After receiving the money, the robber fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The robber is a white male, approximately 25-30 years old, between 5’7” and 5’10” tall, and weighs approximately 150 to 170 pounds. He has brown hair, is unshaven, and has worn a goatee in some of the robberies. A distinguishing characteristic is a tattoo with what appears to be cursive writing on the right side of his neck.

Bank surveillance photos captured the following images of the robbery:
