Springfield Man Sentenced to Prison for Selling Crack Cocaine

BOSTON, MA—A Springfield man was sentenced today in federal court for distributing crack cocaine.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division, announced today that EVROL WILLIAMS, age 30, of Springfield, MA, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Michael A. Ponsor to five years in prison and four years of supervised release.
WILLIAMS pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine on June 8, 2009. At the earlier plea hearing, the prosecutor told the court that had the case proceeded to trial, the government’s evidence would have proven that on April 25, 2008, and May 21, 2008, WILLIAMS distributed a total of 40 grams of crack cocaine.
The case was investigated by the FBI Gang Task Force in Springfield, MA. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul H. Smyth, Chief of Ortiz’s Springfield Office.
