Chicopee Man Arrested and Charged with Possessing with Intent to Distribute Cocaine

BOSTON, MA—A Chicopee, MA man was arrested and charged today in federal court with possessing with the intent to distribute cocaine.

United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division announced today that JOSE ANTONIO FELIX-ROBLES, age 31, of Chicopee, MA, was charged in a Complaint with possessing with the intent to distribute cocaine.

The Complaint alleges that on approximately October 30, 2009, FELIX-ROBLES possessed with the intent to distribute cocaine at 112 Elcon Drive, Chicopee, MA. According to the Complaint, on October 30, 2009, agents executed a search warrant at 112 Elcon Drive and encountered FELIX-ROBLES after he attempted to elude capture by exiting the rear of the residence. During the execution of the search warrant, the agents discovered a large package on the sofa in the living room, that contained what an agent believed to be approximately one kilogram of cocaine that was wrapped in plastic and partially taped. Later that day, FELIXROBLES told agents, in sum and substance, that shortly before agents executed the search warrant, he was attempting to sell cocaine to another individual, and that this was the first time that he had sold drugs.

If convicted on a charge of possessing more than half a kilogram of cocaine, FELIX-ROBLES faces a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of forty years imprisonment, to be followed by a mandatory minimum of four years and a maximum lifetime of supervised release and a $2,000,000.00 fine.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven H. Breslow of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Office.

The details contained in the Complaint are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
