Boston Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Robberies

BOSTON, MA—A Boston man pled guilty today in federal court to four counts of bank robbery.

Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Office, announced today that MOSES CALDWELL, age 54, of Boston, MA, pled guilty before U.S. District Judge William G. Young to four counts of bank robbery.

At today’s plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the government’s evidence would have proven the following: on August 4, 2008, CALDWELL robbed the Sovereign bank located at 30 Winter Street, Boston, MA; on August 14, 2008, CALDWELL robbed the Bank of America located at 557 Tremont Street, Boston, MA; on August 21, 2008 CALDWELL robbed the Hyde Park Cooperative Bank located at 733 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, MA; and on August 28, 2008, CALDWELL robbed the Sovereign Bank located at 279 Massachusetts Avenue in Boston, MA. CALDWELL was arrested on November 10, 2008, by members of the FBI’s Bank Robbery Task Force.

Judge Young scheduled sentencing for February 3, 2010. CALDWELL faces up to 20 years' imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine on each count.

The case was investigated by the Boston Police Department and the FBI’s Bank Robbery Task Force. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of Loucks’ Major Crime Unit.
