Three Men Arrested on Three Armed Bank Robbery Charges

BOSTON, MA—Three men appeared yesterday in U.S. District Court to face charges that they committed three armed bank robberies in May and June of this year.
Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks; Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division; Chief Anthony Holloway of the Somerville Police Department; Chief Steven A. Mazzie of the Everett Police Department; Chief Kenneth A. Coye of the Malden Police Department; and Police Commissioner Edward Davis of the Boston Police Department, announced today that JAMES RIGANO, age 43, of Malden, Massachusetts, TERRY DUNNELLS, age 30, of Cambridge, New York, and ERIC LEONARD, 21, of Everett, Massachusetts, have been charged in a Criminal Complaint with three armed bank robberies. Specifically, RIGANO, DUNNELLS, AND LEONARD are charged with the armed robberies of the Eagle Bank located at 466 Broadway, Everett, Massachusetts on May 30, 2009; the Brookline Bank located at 196 Commercial Street, Malden, Massachusetts on June 27, 2009; and the East Cambridge Savings Bank located at 285 Highland Avenue, Somerville, Massachusetts on June 30, 2009.
For each of these charges, RIGANO, DUNNELLS, AND LEONARD face up to 25 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Somerville Police Department, the Everett Police Department, the Malden Police Department, and the Boston Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Richardson of Loucks’ Major Crimes Unit.
The details contained in the Complaint are allegations. The defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
