Millis Woman Sentenced to Prison for Theft

BOSTON, MA—A Millis woman was sentenced yesterday in federal court for her theft of more than $350,000 from a former employer.
Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau - Boston Field Division, announced that LOUISE S. MCMAHON, age 59, of Millis, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton to 21 months imprisonment, to be followed by two years of supervised release and restitution in the amount of $319,891.80. MCMAHON pled guilty to three counts of mail fraud on March 24, 2009.
At the earlier plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that had the case proceeded to trial the Government’s evidence would have proven that during the period 2002 through 2007, while employed as an office manager of Classic Restaurant Concepts, MCMAHON abused her position of trust by using company funds to pay for personal travel for herself and her family; pocketing employees’ required contribution to the cost of health insurance premiums and adding her own non-employee family members to the company’s policy; using company funds to pay for her personal credit card expenses; and charging personal expenses directly to the corporation.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori J. Holik of Loucks’ Economic Crimes Unit.
