Two Men Indicted for Bank Robbery

BOSTON, MA—Two men were charged today in U.S. District Court with the armed bank robbery of a Sovereign Bank earlier this month.
Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks and Warren T. Bamford, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Boston Field Division, announced today that DIMITRI LONG, age 33, of Norwood and MICHAEL COTY, age 45, of Dedham were charged by a federal grand jury with using force, violence and intimidation in an armed bank robbery.
The Indictment alleges that on July 1, 2009, LONG and COTY armed with, what was later determined to be a BB gun, robbed the Sovereign Bank in Needham, of $9,784.00.
If convicted on these charges, both men face up to 25 years imprisonment and to be followed by up to 5 years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime Unit and police departments in Dedham, Norwood, Needham, Wellesley, Walpole and Newton. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of Loucks’ Major Crime Unit.
The details contained in the Indictment are allegations. The defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
