Box Cutter-Wielding Carjacker Sentenced in Federal Court

BIRMINGHAM—A federal judge today sentenced an Enterprise man to more than 13 years in prison for a 2010 carjacking in Tuscaloosa County, announced U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance and FBI Special Agent in Charge Patrick Maley.
U.S. District Judge Inge P. Johnson sentenced ANTONIO DEVAL GLOVER to 13 years and four months in prison and ordered him to serve three years’ supervised release after completing his prison term.
Glover, 33, pleaded guilty to the charge in November.
According to court records, Glover committed the carjacking as follows: On May 12, 2010, Glover used a box cutter as a weapon and stole a luxury SUV, kicking the driver out of the vehicle in the middle of a busy intersection on McFarland Drive. He drove away with the woman’s two children in the car, putting them out on the street a short distance away. Glover fled to Florida, where he was apprehended the next day driving the victim’s vehicle.
Special agents of the FBI’s Tuscaloosa’s office and members of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney L. James Weil Jr. prosecuted it.
