FBI Announces Five Arrests in the December 14, 2010 Union State Bank Robbery

BIRMINGHAM—Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Patrick J. Maley, announced that five individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the December 14, 2010, bank robbery of Union State Bank, 3460 Old Highway 9, Cedar Bluff, Alabama.

A criminal complaint, which was filed in U.S. District Court today, charges the following individuals with bank robbery and using a weapon in a crime of violence:

  • James Lavan Shropshire, Jr.
  • Remarez Antwan Baker
  • James Jahad Ravenel
  • Cory Morgan
  • Brian Jerome Lindsey

SAC Maley expressed his thanks to the multiple law enforcement agencies that assisted in the investigation, including: the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cedar Bluff Police Department, Leesburg Police Department, Centre Police Department, Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office, U.S. National Park Service, Ft. Payne Police Department, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Gadsden Police Department, Alabama Marine Police, Alabama State Troopers, Etowah County DEU, and the Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office.

All defendants are presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
