FBI Arrests Rome, Georgia Man for Murder-for-Hire Plot

BIRMINGHAM—Acting Special Agent in Charge (A/SAC) Charles E. Regan announced today that Dwight Herschel Green, date of birth 1/15/55, was arrested without incident on Highway 9, between Cedar Bluff and Centre, Alabama at approximately 11:00 a.m. this morning on charges interstate transportation in aid of racketeering—murder-for-hire. Participating in the arrest were FBI Agents from the Gadsden Resident Agency, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cedar Bluff, Alabama Police Department, Alabama State Troopers, Alabama Marine Police, and members of the Violent Crimes/Gang Safe Streets Task Force from the Birmingham office of the FBI.

Green is charged with soliciting a murder-for-hire against four individuals from Alabama and three from Georgia as well as attempting to obtain explosive devices. It is alleged that Green wanted certain individuals killed due to their cooperation with law enforcement and other private conflicts he had with them.

Green is being taken to Birmingham, where he will be placed in the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s and is scheduled to have an initial appearance before Judge John Ott in Birmingham Federal Court later today.
