Career opportunities with the FBI include special agent and professional staff positions. We also offer summer internships. To qualify for any FBI job, you must be a U.S. citizen and successfully pass a polygraph examination, urinalysis, and a rigorous background investigation. The special agent position and most professional staff positions require at least a bachelor's degree in a specified field of study.

FBI Honors Internship Program
Each summer, a group of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students are selected to participate in the FBI Honors Internship Program in Washington, D.C. or at a Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory located throughout the U.S. Candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and must be attending a college or university that is accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. Undergraduates must be in their junior or senior year. The application process is highly competitive, but the program is an extremely rewarding. The FBI Birmingham Division recruits for this position in August and September, and interns are selected in December.
