Eighteen Brunswick Residents Indicted on Federal Drug Trafficking Charges

BRUNSWICK, GA—A federal indictment, unsealed yesterday, has charged 18 Brunswick, Georgia residents with conspiring to traffick cocaine. Some of the defendants were also charged with related gun charges. If convicted of the drug trafficking conspiracy charge, each of the defendants face a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

The 18 defendants indicted on federal charges include:

  • Arron Clark, 23;
  • Christopher Young, 24;
  • Johnny Lee Williams, 29;
  • John Boone, 28;
  • Bernard Ellzy, 30;
  • Jalacia Green, 25;
  • Ebone Alvin, 20;
  • Christopher E. Williams, 22;
  • Ronald Green Jr, 22;
  • Akeem Kirksey, 25;
  • Doniel Porter, 26;
  • Beverly Tyson, 37;
  • George Humphreys, 23;
  • Terrence Thomas, 36;
  • Maurice Fields, 30;
  • Jarvis Denmark, 32;
  • Craig Elkins, 46; and,
  • Alan Addison, 43.

The indictment results from an investigation by the Coastal Georgia Safe Streets Gang Task Force (CGSSGTF), a recently initiated task force led by the FBI. The CGSSGTF addresses gang violence and violent crime through an inter-agency partnership including the FBI, the ATF, and task force officers from Glynn County Police Department and the Brunswick Police Department. Assistance with the investigation was also provided by the United States Marshals Service; the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office; the Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Office; the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Parole; and the District Attorney’s Office—Brunswick Judicial Circuit.

Many of the defendants were arrested yesterday. A majority of the defendants are scheduled to appear today at the federal courthouse in Brunswick for their initial appearances.

Mr. Tarver emphasized that the indictment is only an accusation and is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the Government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
