FBI Seeks Public’s Assistance to Locate Serial Armed Robber
Arrest Warrant Issued for Michael Jerome Winfield

ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Mark F. Giuliano, FBI Atlanta, requests the public’s assistance in locating the following individual responsible for a series of armed commercial and bank robberies within the metro Atlanta area to include yesterday’s armed robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 4099 Lavista Road, Tucker, Georgia.

A federal criminal complaint and arrest warrant has been issued for Michael Jerome Winfield, age 46, of Atlanta, Georgia, charging him with violation of Title 18 USC 2113(a) and (d) and 18 USC 924(c), in connection with the February 19, 2013 armed robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank, 4099 Lavista Road, Tucker, Georgia. In that robbery, a lone black male entered the bank and brandished a handgun while announcing a robbery. He instructed the victim teller to place the money in a brown paper bag. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the robber departed the bank without further incident.

Winfield is also currently wanted by Alpharetta P.D.in connection with the February 11, 2013 armed robbery of the BB&T Bank, located at 5960 Northpoint Parkway, Alpharetta, Georgia. During that robbery, the robber placed his handgun onto the teller counter. The robber obtained an undisclosed amount of money and departed the bank without further incident.

Winfield is also wanted by the Marietta P.D./Cobb County Sheriff’s Office for armed robbery, aggravated assault, and additional charges in connection with the February 8, 2013 armed robbery of the Walgreen’s, located at 23 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, Georgia.

Smyrna P.D. has charged Winfield in connection with a February 9, 2013 armed robbery of the BP Connect-Gas Station, located at 2335 Cobb Parkway, Smyrna, Georgia.

Sandy Springs P.D. has obtained arrest warrants for Winfield for two similar gas station robberies there.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has obtained arrest warrants for Winfield in connection with the February 17, 2013 robbery of the Walgreen’s, located at 590 Thornton Road, Lithia Springs, Georgia.
