Christopher Joseph Atkins Arrested on Kidnapping Charge

ATLANTA—Acting Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Ricky Maxwell, FBI Atlanta Field Office, announces the following arrest in connection with the September 17, 2013 kidnapping/abduction of a minor child at Clayton County, Georgia.

On Monday, December 16, 2013, Christopher Joseph Atkins, also known as C.J., age 19, of Atlanta, Georgia, was taken into custody and processed by FBI agents at Atlanta.

Atkins was indicted by a federal grand jury on November 19, 2013, for violating Title 18 USC 1201(a) (1) and (c), conspiracy to kidnap; and Title 18 USC 924(c), discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.

Atkins is expected to have his initial appearance in front of a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Atlanta, Georgia, later today.

It should be noted that the above are mere allegations and that all persons are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
