Bank Robber Sentenced to Six-and-a-Half Years in Federal Prison

ANCHORAGE—United States Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced today that an Anchorage man was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 78 months in prison for his conviction of bank robbery.

Christopher Todd Mayer, 47, was sentenced by Senior United States District Judge H. Russel Holland, on November 5, 2010.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Kyle G. French, Mayer robbed the Wells Fargo Bank Alaska branch located at 630 East 5th Avenue in Anchorage on May 27, 2010, and took $1,731 of the bank’s funds during the robbery. Officers from the Anchorage Police Department responded to the robbery and apprehended Mayer a short distance from the bank.

Ms. Loeffler commended the Anchorage Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Mayer.
