Anchorage Drug Dealer Sentenced to Five Years in Federal Prison

U.S. Attorney’s Office April 08, 2009
  • District of Alaska (907) 271-5071

ANCHORAGE—Acting United States Attorney Kevin R. Feldis announced that on April 7, 2009, Orlando Gerrard Holder, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 60 months in prison for his conviction on two counts of distribution of controlled substances.

Chief United States District Court Judge John W. Sedwick imposed the sentence on Holder, age 23.

According to information presented to the court by Special Assistant United States Attorney Erin White, the defendant sold crack cocaine to a government informant on two separate occasions in 2008. The total amount of crack cocaine distributed by the defendant was 12.1 grams.

Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Sedwick balanced the serious nature of the criminal actions in this case with Holder’s acceptance of responsibility and willingness to reform his behavior. Prior to his involvement with controlled substances, Holder had been enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Feldis commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Holder. SAUSA White is one of two prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office who are funded by the Municipality of Anchorage for the purpose of prosecuting gang-related and violent crime cases.
