Joshua Abeyta, 21, of Rio Rancho, has been arrested in connection with two bank robberies committed in the Albuquerque metro area.

The FBI and Rio Rancho Police Department arrested Abeyta in Rio Rancho on Wednesday, July 9, 2014.

Abeyta is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Thursday, July 10, 2014.

Abeyta was arrested in connection with an investigation into the July 8, 2014 robbery of the Bank of Albuquerque at 10131 Coors Road NW, Albuquerque, and the June 30, 2014 robbery of the Bank of Albuquerque at 4300 Ridgecrest Dr. SE in Rio Rancho.

The Albuquerque and Rio Rancho Police Departments assisted in the investigation.

No further details will be released until after Abyeta’s court appearance.

The public is reminded that all persons are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
