Arrest Made in Armed Robbery of Shiprock Restaurant

Eddie Shirley, 27, of Shiprock, was arrested Friday, December 14, 2012, in connection with the November 29, 2012, armed robbery of the Sonic Drive-In in Shiprock.

Shirley is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Monday.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. on November 29, two individuals entered the restaurant on Highway 491 as it was closing.

Witnesses say one robber carried an AK-47-type assault rifle.

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The investigation is continuing.

This case is a joint investigation by the FBI and Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations in Shiprock.
