The FBI and Albuquerque police are investigating a robbery that occurred Saturday at the Bank of America branch inside the Albertsons store, 12201 Academy Road NE, near Tramway Boulevard NE.

Witnesses say a white male wearing sunglasses, a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, blue jeans, and a black Calloway golf cap entered the bank at about 3:40 p.m.

He told the teller to give him money and threatened to pull out a weapon.

The man left with an undisclosed amount of money. Nobody was injured.

The suspect is described as about 20-30 years old, approximately 5’6” to 5’8” tall, and weighs about 170 pounds.

The robbery is the 22nd for Albuquerque this year, double the amount the city had this time last year.

Statewide, New Mexico has had 24 bank robberies so far this year, nine more than last year at this time.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the subject.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Albuquerque FBI Office at (505) 889-1300 (24 hours) or Albuquerque Police Crime Stoppers at 843-STOP.
