The FBI and Rio Rancho Police are looking for a man who robbed the Bank of Albuquerque, 3901 Southern Blvd., on Thursday afternoon.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’8” tall, with a slender build.

His age is estimated between 20 and 40.

He wore a black baseball-style cap, glasses, a red and black polo shirt, and pants that might have been jeans.

Witnesses say the robber walked up to a teller in the bank at about 2 p.m. and demanded money. The suspect implied he had a weapon, but none was seen.

He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

This bank robbery is the 26th in the Albuquerque area so far this year, and 18 of those have been solved.

Last year at this time, the Albuquerque area had 16 bank robberies.

Bank robbery is punishable by a 20-year prison sentence for each offense and the penalty increases if a dangerous weapon is used in the commission of the crime.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the subject.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Albuquerque FBI Office at (505) 889-1300 (24 hours) or the Rio Rancho Police Department at 505-891-7226 and ask for a detective.
