Los Padillas Gang Leadership Arrested

U.S. Attorney’s Office December 03, 2009
  • District of New Mexico (505) 346-7274

Early this morning members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force—comprised of agents and officers from the Albuquerque Police Department, New Mexico State Police, Federal Probation and Pre-Trial Services, and the FBI—simultaneously executed two federal search warrants and arrested the leadership of the Los Padillas drug organization. Searches were conducted at two southwest Albuquerque locations this morning. During the searches, authorities found illegal drugs and cash totaling over $440,000.00 buried in multiple locations on the properties.

Jerry Padilla, Jr. and his son Jerry Padilla, III were both arrested on federal drug charges and remain in federal custody tonight. Authorities believe in arresting these two individuals they have effectively disrupted the organization’s ability to traffic in illegal narcotics. The Padilla drug organization was often referred to as simply the Los Padillas Gang and has been a thorn in the side of Albuquerque metro area law enforcement for many years. In fact, as evidenced by the arrests of father and son today, this organization spanned generations.

The Los Padillas Gang was known for its sophistication and ability to evade law enforcement as well as their ability to control members and associates through intimidation and threat of serious violence.
