Troy Man Who Produced Child Pornography Videos Sentenced
Defendant Sentenced to 60 Years of Imprisonment

ALBANY, NY—United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Clifford C. Holly, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Albany Division, announced that Ronald Rafferty, age 64, of Troy, New York, was sentenced by Chief United States District Court Judge Gary L. Sharpe, in Federal District Court in Albany, following his jury trial and conviction on counts one through five of a superseding indictment charging him with producing and possessing child pornography videos. Rafferty was sentenced to 60 years of imprisonment. Following his term of imprisonment, Rafferty will be placed on supervised release for a period of life. Rafferty was also ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors register with the New York State Sex Offender Registry Program.

On May 3, 2011, investigators seized videotapes from Rafferty’s vehicle. Those videotapes revealed Rafferty directing a girl, of about 8 or 9 years of age, to repeatedly engage in sexually explicit conduct in front of a video camera located in an apartment in Troy, New York. Rafferty made the videotapes in 2006 and 2007.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Troy Police Department, and the Rensselaer County Probation Department.
