Two Men Indicted in Bank Robbery Conspiracy

U.S. Attorney's Office May 07, 2009
  • District of Vermont (802) 951-6725

The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Daniel J. Shinosky, age 23, and Shane Z. DiRisio, 19, were indicted by a federal grand jury in Burlington today in a four count Indictment. Count 1 alleges that in late January, 2009, Shinosky and DiRisio conspired to rob the Merchants Bank in Jericho. Count 2 alleges that they solicited a third man to act as the driver during the robbery. Count 3 alleges that DiRisio carried a .9 mm Glock during and in relation to the conspiracy. Count 4 alleges that Shinosky aided and abetted the use of false statements to an area firearms dealer during the 2007 acquisition of the .9 mm Glock.

Shinosky and DiRisio were arrested and charged by State authorities in January, 2009. Shinosky was detained on State charges; DiRisio was released.

The maximum possible federal sentence for conspiracy and solicitation offenses is 20 years' imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Vermont State Police, Williston Barracks, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Acting United States Attorney cautioned that the Indictment is merely a charging instrument, and that the two men are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
