In May 2013, through a grant awarded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Omaha FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association (CAAA) sponsored a Racial Healing Youth Forum, “Changing the Perspective of the 411 on the 5-0.” Along with partners from the FBI Omaha Field Office, the Des Moines Police Department, the Iowa Youth Congress, Des Moines University, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), young people between the ages of 13 and 18 participated in a serious conversation with law enforcement, sharing perspectives and generating a positive dialogue about diversity in their community.
