The Albany Division honors Ms. Rochelle (Shelly) Z. Shapiro for educating community members about civil rights, terrorism prevention, and active shooter awareness.

Mrs. Shapiro currently serves as the director of community relations for the United Jewish Federation (UJF) of Northeastern New York. In the late 1990s, Mrs. Shapiro and the UJF worked with the Albany Division to host a Holocaust exhibition. The exhibition included presentations by Holocaust survivors, teacher workshops on hate and prejudice, and educational programs for students.

More than a decade later, the partnership between FBI Albany and the UJF remains strong. Mrs. Shapiro has worked closely with Albany’s community outreach program to coordinate a second Holocaust exhibition, has participated in the division’s Citizens Academy, and serves as a liaison with the Jewish community.

Mrs. Shapiro also works closely with the Albany Division and local law enforcement to provide annual security updates to the public on terrorism prevention and active shooter preparedness.
