The Indianapolis Division honors Kanwal Prakash Singh for his work supporting cultural diversity in Indiana. Mr. Singh considers community service a civic responsibility as well as a major focus and commitment of his Sikh faith.

Mr. Singh is the owner of K.P. Singh Designs, an art and architecture company. He also is a founding member of The International Center of Indianapolis, through which he helps coordinate interfaith initiatives and celebrations of diverse cultures. He has assisted with humanitarian programs such as the Interfaith Hunger Initiative and advocates bringing together ethnic talents and assets to benefit all Americans.

Mr. Singh is involved with the Race and Cultural Relations Leadership Network and the Indianapolis Civilian Police Merit Board. Mr. Singh assists with cultural awareness training for police officers and Transportation Security Administration personnel and is an integral liaison partner to law enforcement agencies for local multi-cultural events throughout the year. He is the recipient of many accolades, including the Hoosier Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award, and was featured in the Indianapolis Super Bowl XLVI Faces Project.

In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters on April 4, 2014, Director James B. Comey recognized the recipients of the 2013 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.

“This year’s honorees have distinguished themselves in remarkable ways through their hard work, their leadership, and their strength of character,” said Director Comey. “They are ordinary citizens, but what they have accomplished is nothing short of extraordinary.”
