Comedian and media personality Steve Harvey is well known for his passion for philanthropy and helping others. Since 2000, he has helped countless individuals pursue their career and educational dreams. From book drives and technology upgrades in the Los Angeles Unified School District to donating more than $35,000 to underserved school children in Jamaica, he has proven himself to be a tireless servant of his community. Expanding his philanthropic efforts in 2009, Mr. Harvey launched the Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for young men. This four-day camp for boys from single-family homes serves as a true “manhood experience” for young men. After participating in the weekend retreat, Mr. Harvey hopes these boys will see beyond their current circumstances and provides them with the tools to navigate the world as men. In 2010, the FBI Community Outreach Program partnered with Mr. Harvey as a part of its minority and youth initiative. Multiple FBI employees volunteered as mentors, while others, such as FBI executive Jennifer Love, who serves as the FBI’s deputy assistant director of the Inspection Division, spoke to a group of 125 mothers during a Community Relations Executive Seminar Training (CREST). |
