New York | Dr. Jay Findling |
In New York, Dr. Jay Findling has worked as an urban educator for more than 15 years. He is a firm believer that schools and law enforcement agencies must collaborate in order to keep students safe. Through his professional work as senior administrator of school services and security in the New York City Department of Education’s Office of School and Youth Development, and his volunteer work as regional director of the New York Gang Investigators Association, Dr. Findling has studied and trained professionals in areas including school-based discipline, intervention programs, and gang awareness. To address challenging gang-involvement issues, Dr. Findling has focused on working with various community groups and law enforcement agencies, giving joint presentations to parent and spiritual/religious groups and agencies whose work directly supports the youth of New York. His collaboration with the New York Division of the FBI was invaluable in developing an effective presentation as part of FBI New York’s Anti-Gang Initiative. To date, more than 4,500 middle school students have attended this presentation. On the national level, Dr. Findling has published articles that give readers an understanding of basic gang issues, gang participation awareness, and insight on ways to initiate collaborative intervention and prevention programs. |
