The Denver Division has selected Stacey Hervey to receive the Director’s Community Leadership Award.

Ms. Hervey started her career working for the Boulder Police Department as a victim advocate, and then she attended the Police Academy at Arapahoe Community College, where she became post-certified. She received her graduate degree in criminal justice from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She eventually became a teacher, where she has truly found her calling.

She currently serves as the interim chair for the Criminal Justice Department at the Community College of Denver, and she also runs the Denver Public Schools Criminal Justice/Forensics Academy. During the past five years, she has introduced to both the Community College of Denver and the Career Education Center (CEC) of the Middle College of Denver high school programs in forensics, emergency management, law, police science, and dispatching.

In addition, Ms. Hervey has worked at the federal and state level to revamp the standards for the law enforcement career cluster. She is serving as the secondary chair for the Colorado Criminal Justice Content Team. Her high school class at CEC Middle College of Denver allows students to graduate with up to 12 credits in criminal justice. For Metro State College, she teaches the following courses: criminal justice, victimology, gangs, and hate crimes.

To create a streamlined career path for her students, she has formed partnerships with the Denver Police Department’s Explorer Program and Cadet Program, and she was instrumental in having the CEC Middle College of Denver become the Adopt-A-School of the FBI's Denver Division.
