Qualifications include the following:
- BS in a chemical or biological science or medical technology
- At least one year's previous experience in medical-testing or drug-testing laboratories
- Familiarity with chain-of-custody documentation
- Good laboratory practices
- Extensive instrument knowledge
- Ability to work to standard operating procedures guidelines
- Experience in one or more of the following: EMIT, GC, TLC, and fully conversant with GC/MS
- Data entry experience
- Ability to be flexible to move from one task to the next
- Manual dexterity
- Thorough understanding of English, written and spoken
- Proven attention to detail
Responsibilities include the following:
- Preparing reagents and calibrators
- Receiving, transferring, and disposing of specimens
- Processing specimens for analysis
- Operating and maintaining Hewlett-Packard gas chromatographs and mass selective detectors
- Reviewing data
- Entering computer data
- Performing other duties as assigned by the department supervisor or lead technician
