
Criminalist / Forensic Chemist
Salary: $45,000 - $60,000
Indian River Forensic Laboratory
Fort Pierce, Florida
Qualifications include the following:
- MS in chemistry or forensic science (with chemistry undergraduate degree)
- At least two years' forensic laboratory experience
- Skill in using gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy, ultraviolet and infrared spectrophotometry, and other drug analysis equipment and methodologies
- Familiarity with the technical and safety requirements of ASCLD-LAB
- Demonstrated proficiency testing
- Experience in head-space BAC analysis is desirable
Responsibilities include the following:
- Analyzing controlled substances
- Interpreting laboratory analyses and results
- Preparing written reports
- Testifying as an expert witness
Laboratory personnel are subject to random drug testing and an extensive background investigation.
