Autopsy Technician
— Salary: $12.46 - $14.70/hour

Dallas County
Dallas, Texas

Qualifications include the following:

  • High school or GED diploma
  • At least one year's work-related experience or 15 hours of college or combination of the two
  • Knowledge of human anatomy
  • Thorough knowledge of standard autopsy room protocols
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with reduced supervision
  • Skilled in the use of autopsy room equipment such as bone saws, knives, and needles
  • Ability to write accurately and legibly
  • Ability to work cooperatively
  • Familiarity with PCS and standard applications
  • Ability to use good safety practices and precautions including the use of personal protective equipment
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to execute standard protocols
  • Ability to pass criminal background check

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Working in an autopsy room with routine exposure to odorous specimens and chemicals, graphic visual situations, and potential exposure to biological and/or chemical hazards
  • Working with prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking
  • Lifting, positioning, pushing, or transferring bodies
  • Lifting supplies and equipment
  • Working with considerable reaching, stooping, and bending
