
Autopsy Technician
Salary: $12.46 - $14.70/hour

Qualifications include the following:
- High school or GED diploma
- At least one year's work-related experience or 15 hours of college or combination of the two
- Knowledge of human anatomy
- Thorough knowledge of standard autopsy room protocols
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with reduced supervision
- Skilled in the use of autopsy room equipment such as bone saws, knives, and needles
- Ability to write accurately and legibly
- Ability to work cooperatively
- Familiarity with PCS and standard applications
- Ability to use good safety practices and precautions including the use of personal protective equipment
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to execute standard protocols
- Ability to pass criminal background check
Responsibilities include the following:
- Working in an autopsy room with routine exposure to odorous specimens and chemicals, graphic visual situations, and potential exposure to biological and/or chemical hazards
- Working with prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking
- Lifting, positioning, pushing, or transferring bodies
- Lifting supplies and equipment
- Working with considerable reaching, stooping, and bending
