Employment Opportunities

Criminalist / Forensic Chemist
— Salary: $45,000 - $60,000

Indian River Forensic Laboratory
Fort Pierce, Florida

Qualifications include the following:

  • MS in chemistry or forensic science (with chemistry undergraduate degree)
  • At least two years' forensic laboratory experience
  • Skill in using gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy, ultraviolet and infrared spectrophotometry, and other drug analysis equipment and methodologies
  • Familiarity with the technical and safety requirements of ASCLD-LAB
  • Demonstrated proficiency testing
  • Experience in head-space BAC analysis is desirable

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Analyzing controlled substances
  • Interpreting laboratory analyses and results
  • Preparing written reports
  • Testifying as an expert witness

Laboratory personnel are subject to random drug testing and an extensive background investigation.
